YACHTMASTER PRAXIS PROFESSIONAL


This is the booking form for your 14 days Yachtmaster Practical Course. This is an intense program which will prepare you in the best possible way for the exam in the last two days. In this package included is

  • 6 days of intense training in the Solent area, possibly one channel crossing
  • PPR Online Course
  • RYA Sea Survival on the first Saturday (in co-operation with SWAC)
  • RYA First Aid on the Sunday (with SWAC) 
  • RYA Yachtmaster Prep-Week (4  days)  with exam (up to two days) 
  • Never more than 4 students on the boat

 

PPR
Is an online course about your responsibilities and best practices as a professional yachtmaster. As this two weeks program is directed at people who plan a career in the area it is not only a very useful course but also a requirement of the commercial endorsement.

TIDAL TRAINING
In the first 6 days we explore the area, try to cover all ports and destinations and concentrate on the navigational aspect of this training. Weather and time allowing we also do a channel crossing.

clothingRYA SEA SURVIVAL
This one day course is a requirement for a commercial endorsement only, but a very useful course which will prepare you for any worst case scenarios. There are theoretical and practical lessons. You can always borrow wet weather gear but bring some bathing suits and a towel for this session. This course is held in co-operation with Southampton Water Activities Centre.

RYA FIRST AID
The First Aid course is a requirement for the Yachtmaster. You will learn all fundamental procedures and life saving techniques including hypothermia.

ENG1 ODER ML5
If you plan to apply for a commercial endorsement you will need a seafarer medical exam. A list of MCA approved doctors you can find  hier.

YACHTMASTER PREP
The last five days are spent to best prepare you for the exam. We will IMG_9161cover all exercises and make sure there are no surprises during the exam.

Monday-Friday YM Prep  
DAY Saturday & Sunday:
 Exam
SUNDAY: Finish at 1600, after boat clean, debriefs, feedback, good byes!

HOW TO GET THERE
BY  PLANE
There are Flights to Southampton Airport but if you fly in from Germany Gatwick is the easiest airport as there are frequent train and bus connections to Southampton.

BY TRAIN
The nearest main rail link to Port Hamble is the Southampton Parkway Station. A taxi ride from the station or Southampton Airport will take approximately 15 – 20 minutes.

Approaching from the east or west on the “M27” exit junction 8, after leaving the motorway follow the sign to HAMBLE (A3024) at the first roundabout. At the next roundabout (Windover Roundabout) take your second exit, (B3397) Hamble Lane, and get in to the right hand lane. Carry straight on for Hamble over 3 roundabouts and continue on straight down Hamble lane until you reach the heart of the village where there is a mini roundabout. Take a left turn and you will find PORT HAMBLE MARINA about 200 yards on the right hand side. Once you have driven down the hill into the marina for about 100 yards you will see our office’s on the left next to Force 4 chandlery.

Included in this package:  RYA coded Yacht,  Welcome Package, Training,   RYA Logbook, RYA Yachtmaster Practical Notes, Fuel, Berthing fees, towels, bed linen.
Not included:Wet weather gear (10 Pounds/  day) , Food (Victualling done on the Monday after a meal plan , Transportation,  exam fees are payable directly to the RYA
Exam fees: YM Coastal: 185  Pounds, YM Offshore 215 Pounds, payable via cheque or credit card.

TRAINING YACHT
Our training yacht for the yachtmaster is either a Beneteau Oceanis 37 or a Beneteau First 40.7. Both vessels are RYA coded training yachts. 

PAYMENT METHOD
50% Due with the booking, 50% 8 weeks prior to commencement of the training. You can either book the sea survival and first aid or use the weekend to brush up on theory or for some boat handling. Your instructor will be available for you.
